INTERNATIONAL TAXIDERMY
CHAMPION--SCULPTOR--ARTIST
Past president of the International Guild of Taxidermy serving as
president for four years and serving as a board member for 12 years.
Has
judged numerous taxidermy competitions and has given seminars throughout the
taxidermy industry.
One of only 11
taxidermists to ever receive the prestigious International Grand Masters Award,
the most difficult accomplishments within the taxidermy industry.
Has done work for several major museums including: Cincinnati
Museum of Natural History to include mounting all mammals that migrated
from South America to North America, as well as other assorted mounts. Cincinnati
Children's Museum, including many original sculpted small mammals and the
skeletal assembling of a large Aldabra Tortoise with molded and hand carved
bones to replace destroyed ones. Salato Museum at KY. Fish & Wildlife Headquarters
including the mounting and designing of the flying waterfowl and other song
birds of the entry way. Beringer Crawford Museum to
include assorted owls and other wildlife. Many nature centers throughout
Kentucky and Ohio.
Won
numerous awards in State and International taxidermy competitions, to many to
list but including, Best All Around KY. Taxidermist 2 times. McKenzie
Distinguished Taxidermy Award 2 times, Peoples Choice Award, and Best of Show
Award. Received master certifications in Game head, Life-size mammals, birds and
fish.
Has taught
taxidermy to other taxidermist as far away as Hawaii, Holland and Africa.
Mounted Kentucky's State Record White Tail Deer Taken by Robert Smith 2000 with a score of 204 2/8 ranking
number six in Boone & Crocket placing next to the Jordan Buck. Mounted
Kentucky's State record Elk with bow taken by Craig
Wheeler 2001.
Has been mounting wildlife since the age of 8 years old and started a business serving
the community at age 15 in 1979. Over 25 years of creative experience.
Pioneered several techniques in carcass casting, molding artificial parts and eye
angles.
First time entrant at KY. State competition resulted in a best of category in fish
with a grey trigger fish in 1989.
Life member of Safari Club International and International Guild of
Taxidermy.
